Specialization Exam:
- Please only apply if you have enrolled in and received recognition through the PLAR Pathway, or if you have received a passing grade through the Education Pathway for all of the following components:
- CSIR - Foundations of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB)
- CSID - Foundations of the Immigration Division (ID)
- CSIA - Foundations of the Immigration Appeal Division (IAD)
- CSRP - Foundations of the Refugee Protection Division (RPD)
- CSRA - Foundations of the Refugee Appeal Division (RAD)
- Candidates whose cohort is not scheduled to finish until after the deadline to apply for a certain exam date are ineligible for that exam date, and their application will not be reviewed for approval.
- Before submitting your application for the Specialization Exam, please be aware that there is no deferral process to move your application to a later date. Licensees who apply and pay for an exam are expected to write that exam. Requests for compassionate waivers will be reviewed if the licensee provides current documentation of outstanding circumstances (death in the family, sudden medical condition, etc.). If you do not qualify for a compassionate waiver, you will need to reapply for the exam and pay the exam fee again.

Once you are approved to write the exam, we ask that you create your account, test your computer, and schedule your exam as soon as possible so that you are able to get your desired start time within that window. ProctorU requires sessions to be booked no later than 2 weeks before the start of the exam session as they cannot guarantee availability past that date. If you do not book your session in time, you will not be able to write the exam.
